What really resonates with me is its core idea: mastering the art of leading yourself before attempting to lead others. The book offers a clear, actionable path to personal and professional growth.
“The Summit Leadership book was an interesting read. It uses examples from climbing a mountain to illustrate various leadership and team aspects. First off, I have no clue about mountain climbing so that part of the book was lost on me. I did read the first few pages dealing with mountain climbing and it was written in a easy to understand conversational style but since I have zero interest, I ended up skipping the examples and went straight to the points being made about teams and leadership. That is where the true value of this book lies. As the photo shows, I ended up highlighting so many points that make sense. One example I particularly liked was the Wonder Woman vs Princess Leia style of leadership and the pitfalls associated with the Wonder Woman style. Throughout the book there are gold nuggets to reflect on. What made this book stand out to me was it reflects the reality of the workplace…the petty politics, jealousy, teams that simply do not want to work and coordinate on endless meetings but very little work gets done…and so on. Its easy to say be an inspiring leader…but that is much more challenging in todays environment. Overall I would say if you are struggling to understand why the old adages about leadership are not working for you as easily and nicely as the other books promise…this is a great read. Its a slim easy to carry to work kind of book and excellent for commuter reading.”
